Saratoga Historical Foundation to host free Fourth of July event

Fourth of July event A free old-fashioned celebration will be held in Kevin Moran Park for the Fourth of July Related Articles Fourth of July festivities kick off summer fun in Los Gatos Bay Area offers plenty of festive events leading up to July Roaring Camp in miniature comes to Sunnyvale s Heritage Park Museum Cupertino residents can get help going electric Walk a new spiritual path at Winchester Mystery House There will be a parade the ringing of the Liberty Bell by region members dressed as historical figures group caroling and free popsicles and U S flags There will also be a patriotic tableau organized by Holly Fidrych daughter of Mr Saratoga Jack Mallory The event will start at a m with selected patriotic music played by the McCartysville Wind Band according to Tadashi Okuno who organized the band last year In the band consisted of people and was made up entirely of participants according to a Facebook post by the Saratoga Historical Foundation Kevin Moran Park is at Scully Ave The event will end around a m as the band plays a series of Sousa marches while children parade around the park Art for All Ages A joint exhibit featuring art made by children and independent artists will be shown at Aegis Gallery in Saratoga in July The artwork was created by elementary schoolchildren who partnered with the San Jose-based nonprofit Muindi Foundation for a free Kids Art Day Their paintings will be shown alongside the work of independent Bay Area artists The nonprofit held the event in April with the goal of exposing children to the arts and encouraging them to use art to build their creativity confidence and mental physical condition With so a great number of schools eliminating art programs for kids this is an opportunity to open children s eyes to a whole new area they haven t been exposed to before explained Muindi Foundation Co-Founder and Executive Director Serena Muindi We re excited about the partnership with Aegis to enrich children Professional artist and Aegis Gallery President Christine Oliver guided the children in making their art for Art for All Ages A Day at the Beach The exhibit runs July - with an artists reception on July - p m at Aegis Gallery Big Basin Way This is a full circle moment for the kids who created art at the free April event stated Oliver We re proud to be able to open a door to art and artwork for them that could change their lives forever The Muinidi Foundation hosts activities that provides help tools coaching and mentorship for low-income and underserved elementary age children
